Our story

About Explore Scilly

An independent guide to the Isles of Scilly, made for visitors and islanders alike, out of a simple love for these islands.

Explore Scilly started with a simple love of these islands. The light on the water at Porthcressa, the quiet of an off island lane in October, the gig crews out on a summer evening, the first sight of the Eastern Isles from the boat. Once Scilly gets hold of you, it doesn't really let go.

This site is our way of giving something back. We wanted one place where visitors and islanders alike could find the things that matter day to day: boat and flight times, tides, weather, where to eat, where to stay and what's on across all five inhabited islands. Wherever we can, that information is live, so you can check the tide before a walk to Samson or see whether the boats are running before you head down to the quay.

Explore Scilly is independent. We're not part of the Council, the tourist board or any operator. We just want people to make the most of their time here, whether that's a first visit, a yearly return or a lifetime on the islands.

Spotted something wrong?

Islands change, timetables shift and businesses open and close with the seasons. We work hard to keep everything accurate, but if you notice a mistake or something that needs updating, please let us know. Island businesses are always welcome to get in touch about their listings too.

We hope you find the site helpful, and that it shows off everything that makes the Isles of Scilly so special.
