Travelling with her
Menawethan has a lounge for up to 12 passengers. In summer most people cross on the Scillonian or fly, but in winter she keeps a sea link going. Places are few, so check with the freight office first.

Why there is no clock time
She works the tide, which runs about 50 minutes later each day, so the weekly schedule gives the days and the direction rather than a time. The live position above shows when she has actually sailed.
Menawethan FAQs
The freight ship, her passengers and her sailings.
What is Menawethan?+
Menawethan is the Isles of Scilly freight ship. She entered service on 13 July 2026, replacing Gry Maritha, and carries the islands' supplies and freight between Penzance and St Mary's all year.
Can I travel on Menawethan as a passenger?+
She has a lounge for up to 12 passengers, which keeps a sea link open in winter when the Scillonian is laid up. Places are limited, so ask the freight office before you plan around her.
What time does Menawethan sail?+
The weekly schedule says which days she sails and which way. The hour is set around the tide, which comes about 50 minutes later each day, so it moves through the week; the freight office can give you the time for a sailing.
How long does the crossing take?+
Menawethan cruises at about 10 knots, so the crossing between Penzance and St Mary's usually takes around four hours, longer than the Scillonian.

The map near the top of this page shows her position from her AIS signal, refreshed every few seconds while she is at sea. The live tracker shows her alongside every flight and sailing today.
